Spirit of a Friend

Dimensional Expressions

Artist Statement

In this dynamic mixed-media painting, Moore bridges the tactile world of low-relief sculpture with the fluid grace of botanical abstraction. Centered around the organic rhythm of the golden spiral, the piece depicts an unfolding blossom whose swirling petals capture both celestial motion and the quiet surge of living growth.

Through the deliberate use of heavy impasto and dimensional medium, the artist sculpts the surface rather than merely painting it, inviting the eye to travel along ridged crests and soft, shadowed valleys. At the focal core, warm metallic golds and amber undertones radiate energy, anchoring the composition before unfurling into sweeping waves of ivory, slate, and deep emerald.

By juxtaposing dense, mineral texture with the delicate lightness of petal forms, Moore captures the tension between resilience and fragility. The work becomes an immersive exploration of transformation—an energetic vortex that pulls the viewer into a luminous meditation on nature’s enduring vitality.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
— Anaïs Nin

Inspiration

Even when life feels tangled and uncertain, there is beauty in the unfolding. Growth rarely happens in straight lines; sometimes we have to spiral, bend, and begin again before we discover who we are becoming. Evolving and growing, we meet our spiritual companions on the journey. This one is for Karen, thank you for your enduring love and special friendship.
